Principle of Superposition: In layers of rocks, the oldest rock is on bottom and the youngest rock in above.

Layers of rocks are put down with the oldest layer at the bottom.

Rock layers or formations that do not “Conform” to this principle are called “Unconformities”.

Rock Wall Lab: Look the the pictures and answer the questions.   Make a copy of the questions and share them with anyone who has the link and post to your assignment page.

Attempt over the Weekend and finish in class Monday. (The lab will be due during Class Monday, so either work hard today or over the weekend to understand and complete most of the questions.)

2. Open this presentation: One member of the topic and position group make a copy and share with group members and start completing slides based on your topic and position on that topic.

Read through the first few slides to get a better understanding of what an argumentation paper looks like. Then start filling in the blanks together with information from your topic and position on that topic.

3.  Chapter 13/14 Notes:

  • Make copy

Chapter 11 Test work on 4D project

Test ID: 77573

Work on researching your topic from yesterday. Look for graphical information to support your position on the topic.

You are wanting good creditable sources for your position on the topic. Don’t just find lots of information and pasted it into your document. Look for facts, quotes and graphs.

TEST Tomorrow

Assignment:
Students will work together to create a webpage using GoogleSites which contains a pro or con argument about one of the following topics:

-Fracking for Natural Gas
-Nuclear Energy
-Keystone Pipeline
-Climate Change (Global Warming)
-Returning a Manned Spacecraft to the Moon.
-Theory of Plate Tectonics
-Pluto being a planet.

Today you will decide if you are for (pro) or against (con) the topic assigned to your group. You will spend your class time researching your topic. Create a new document to take notes and keep track of your sources.

You need at least three sources.
Your argument must include graphical data.

AP Biology Prefixes, Suffixes, and Stems- Quiz 1

(55 cards)

Welcome Back:

The Spring semester in my class is set up a little differently than the first semester. The goal of 2nd semester is to prepare you for 9th grade. The procedures and expectations HAVE changed and we will get addressing the changes during the first two days of second semester.

Some changes:

Weighed grading:

Your grade will be based on the following setup:

  • Daily Work: 5%
  • Portfolio: 10%
  • Semester Project: 20%
  • Final Exam: 15%
  • Test and Quizzes: 50%

Biology Latin Terms:

Starting next Friday, you will have a weekly quiz over important latin root prefixes. You MUST take these seriously, not only because they will be a LARGE part of your grade, but most importantly, they will help you be more successful next year in biology.

Semester Project:

You will work in a GROUP and create a video on what do do in the case of a Tornado. Your group will create a blog page with everything a person would need to help survive a tornado. More details will be posted on this site. Groups are between 3 and 5 people and group members can be any student currently enrolled in my science classes.
